Old Stories About Leadership

How familiar are you with the Leader As Hero model?

Most people have this archetypal image of a leader as someone riding in to save the day.

They swoop down, take charge, lead us into battle, gather the troops, and say JUMP to which we say HOW HIGH.

Now, this has been an effective form of leadership in the past 3 millennia.

It does however have two major downsides.
First - It is short term thinking.
Second - It tends to become dictatorial, since there is no exit strategy.

How about the old Bully & Blame Model of leadership?

Commonly practiced in corporate cubicle business and by schoolyard thugs.
